Do you know how to help your coworker having a panic attack or your suicidal friend? Just like CPR  training is for anyone so is Mental Health First Aid (MHFA). MHFA is an 8-hour course that teaches you about mental health and substance use disorders. Get certified in one day!

 

MHFA Will Help You:

  • Learn to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illnesses and substance use disorders

  • Gain skills to reach out and provide initial help and support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem or experiencing a crisis

  • Discover resources to help a loved on​e

Youth Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.

Youth MHFA Will Help You:

  • Understand  the difference between typical adolescent development and a potential mental illness developing 

  • Learn a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. 

Helping Women Prioritize Self-Care

Kea wants to help women become more intentional about self-care, and she's not talking about  manicures, pedicures, and massages. She's talking about self-care that leaves your cup overflowing so that you continue to sprinkle your black girl magic without feeling depleted.

The Wellness Recovery Action Plan® or WRAP® is a two-day (in-person) self-designed prevention and wellness training that anyone can use to get well, stay well and create the life they desire. This course is also offered online for four consecutive weeks once per quarter. 

WRAP®  was developed by Dr. Mary Ellen Copeland. It was initially used by health care and mental health systems all over the world to address all kinds of physical, mental health, and life issues. However, this training is used extensively by people in all types of circumstances.

WRAP Will Help You:

  • Discover your own simple and safe wellness tools

  • Develop a list of things to do every day to stay well

  • Discover ways to create hope, support and advocate for yourself

  • Gain clarity on your values and beliefs

  • Identify upsetting events, early warning signs, and signs that things have gotten worse and develop action plans for responding at these times

  • Create a crisis plan

  • Create a post-crisis plan
