What's Fireflies Unite?
Fireflies Unite is the first and only mental health media and communications company founded by suicide survivor T-Kea Blackman. Its mission is to bring light into darkness (just like the fireflies) by sharing the stories of people of color who live and THRIVE with mental health conditions through digital, social, print and broadcast media, events, training, and community partnerships.
Mental health shouldn't be a taboo topic.
T-Kea's vision is to make mental health a part of our daily conversation.

Mental Health Advocate. Author. Speaker.
Described as an inspiration, her heartfelt and powerful story is a testament that you can thrive despite having a mental health condition. T-Kea was diagnosed with major depressive and generalized anxiety disorders in 2015 and is a suicide survivor. She was later diagnosed with bipolar disorder. She previously worked in the television industry as a publicist and production/talent coordinator. Within her career, she's provided support to TV One’s signature award-winning shows Unsung and Unsung Hollywood, Black Girls Rock!, The Soul Train Awards and BET X Youth Experience. Her diagnosis led her to use her communications and media skills to raise awareness for mental health within communities of color.
